There are several different reasons people choose to cycle as a mode of transportation. Many of these reasons are not at all related with how you like to travel. Some people choose to cycle because they need the exercise. Some choose to cycle because they are in competitions with cycling. And there are others that simply want a way to bond with their family, so they take up cycling. No matter your reason for needing to choose a bicycle, you need to consider a number of different things in order to choose the one that is right for you. Here are some hints to help you make your choice.
The first thing to ensure is you get a bike that is the right size. For this you must calculate your inseam. Simply measure through your inner leg from your groin to the bottom of your foot to find out your inseam. Ideally you should be able to place both feet on the ground while on your bike. If you can do this you need not worry about stopping in an emergency if your brakes malfunction.
Do you require more features on the new bike? check my reference If you are using your bicycle as your primary form of transportation you might want to consider whether you will need things like baskets to help you transport goods. Will a child ever be transported on your bike? Attaching a child seat is not possible for every bike, so choose wisely. How about towing something behind the bike? Your new bike needs to support the weight of the trailer if this is your plan.
Never leave out the safety gear, either. The new bicycle helmets look and feel nothing like the old bicycle helmets. Now they offer better protection while being a little bit more stylish. You should never go for a ride without putting on your helmet first. You'd be surprised at how many lives have been saved from that one simple thing.
It wouldn't hurt to also get some elbow and knee pads, and some wrist and ankle guards if you are going to take your bike off-road. Another good idea is to buy some pants clips if you are going to be riding your bike as your primary form of transportation. Pants clips are designed to hold your pants in place so they don't get caught up in the chain or the gears of the bike.
Your main priority is the physical fit of your bike. When deciding upon using a bike for transportation you need to keep this in mind. You want to feel comfortable and safe as you travel from one point to another.
